STEP UP LOCALLY

They’re On Long Island –August is the month when we can visit our law makers right on Long Island.  There’s so many reasons to visit them.  They need to know where you stand on issues that concern kids.  Talk to them about things going on in your community.  Speak about Paid Family Leave, Raise The Age, Early Learning, and more.  We put them in office to represent us.  But electing them is not enough.  You have to also keep them informed about the issues that you care about.  You have to tell them what’s important to you, and what’s best for kids.  Meet with your law makers!

STEP UP STATEWIDE

Home Visiting Maternal, infant, and early childhood home visiting programs present a unique opportunity to improve health, education, and socio-economic indicators for young children and their families, intervening at a time when families are most receptive to services. Investing in home visiting programs can strengthen New York’s families and save the state in health, education, and social services spending down the road.  Click here to read more from SCCAA.

STEP UP NATIONALLY

Head Start Needs Parent Involvement-   Let the Office of Head Start know parent involvement is critical. The revised standards for the program fail to incorporate a two-gen approach which will consequently dilute parent engagement. We know from research and practice that when parents do better so do children. Click here to contact them and share your thoughts. Be a voice for children and send in your comments today! Click here for talking points.
