Get to know MFIP
The Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) is the Minnesota’s Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. MFIP decreases financial barriers for over 35,000 working families in Minnesota by providing a number of benefits including food and income support.
Some highlights of the program include:
- Working with a job counselor to create an employment plan
- Support earning a high school diploma
- Paying childcare costs for working recipients directly to providers
- Income support
- Food benefits
With summer approaching, Every Child Matters in Minnesota is lifting up working families who have to find full-day care and ensure their child gets food while trying to hold a job. Families should not be punished for working full-time and MFIP works to support families as they juggle work and care-giving responsibilities. We are grateful that Minnesota provides such supportive programs to residents and want to ensure that families who need MFIP know how to get involved!
