Digital Communications Associate

The Digital Communications Associate will support the Communications Director in efforts to promote Every Child Matters via online platforms. The Associate will work with the communications team to craft an online message and will implement this plan on a daily basis. The Associate will also work as part of the larger Every Child Matters team to create strategy, and will work with associated state organizations to coordinate messaging and campaign activities.

Responsibilities include:

Managing the Every Child Matters website

  • Writing, editing, and posting content
  • Managing style and integrating content from national and state campaigns

Editing, converting, and distributing newsletters

  • Designing and implementing emails, petitions, and donation pages
  • Compiling and managing email database information

Web outreach and social media

  • Managing Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other social media accounts
  • Assisting with state social media activities
  • Designing and implementing ad campaigns via social media and Google for Nonprofits
  • Conducting webinars and issuing electronic press releases

Managing Every Child Matters’ email, domain registry and hosting, and other online accounts

Tracking, analyzing, and reporting on email campaign performance, social network engagement, and website traffic and activity


Two years of related experience in online communications; preferably for an advocacy group, nonprofit, or political campaign

Experience maintaining websites, especially using WordPress

Experience in database management, especially using Salsa Labs

Experience managing social media accounts for a nonprofit or similar organization

Excellent oral and written communications skills, strong editorial and proof-reading skills, and attention to detail

Ability to collaborate and work effectively with small groups

Willingness to share limited administrative duties with other staffers

Additional Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, or other image-editing software

Experience creating and editing video content

Spanish language proficiency

Communications experience with a political or advocacy campaign
