Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders will hold a roundtable on Friday with the national education group Every Child Matters.
The roundtable is slated for 2:30 p.m. Friday at Plumber and Pipefitters Local 33, 501 Bell Avenue in Des Moines.
Sanders, an independent senator from Vermont, is seeking the Democratic nomination for president.
Every Child Matters is a nonprofit, nonpartisan group that focuses to raise awareness of children’s issues during elections. The group’s website reports its priorities include alleviating child poverty, ensuring access to health care, preventing violence against children and expanding access to after-school program and early-childhood education.
Prior to the roundtable, Sanders will speak at the AFSCME Iowa Council 61’s state convention in Des Moines. He’ll go on to hold a town hall meeting at Valley High School in West Des Moines.
