Tell Rep. Young to Protect our Care
Congress is moving again to repeal the Affordable Care Act. The House GOP has modified its earlier repeal bill and is expected to vote on health care again this week. The bill aims to win more support from a wider range of Congressional members, to the detriment of our children and families.
Iowa’s 3rd District Congressman David Young is currently wavering on this new amendment, after having voted against the health care repeal measures that would double the number of uninsured parents and children.
Call Representative Young to tell him that repealing the ACA and changing Medicaid to remove coverage for millions would undermine the most vulnerable children and families here in Iowa and across the nation. Demand that our kids receive the same good health care as our members of Congress, who under this bill would be exempt from the new health care provisions.
The new proposed changes to the ACA would:
- Allow insurers to charge people higher premiums based on pre-existing conditions;
- Eliminate or weaken the law’s essential health benefits requirement;
- Effectively eliminate Medicaid expansion and ration future Medicaid care.
Congress is expected to debate this bill soon. We will keep fighting, because every child deserves to be healthy.
